Oenorama 2016

As Greek wines become more and more popular, the annual Oenorama of Athens Wine Week attracts wine fans from many different countries.  It is not just a local event.  Oenorama  is the largest and most important exhibition of Greek wines in the world, leaving the best impressions to visitors and exhibitors.

The “Discover Greek Wines” tasting hall featured 250 of the best wines of the show with producers from all regions of Greece present to proudly present their local varieties. The “Wine Revelations” tasting hall assembled 25 very small wineries, we can call them boutique wineries,  alongside a tasting area with rare Greek varieties.  A special attraction this year was the “Olive Oils by Winemakers” stand with grape farmers pulling double duty by also producing extra virgin olive oils.

Oenorama took place at the Zappeion Exhibition Hall, yet Athens itself was on full display with a series of events taking place all over the city in restaurants, wine bars and wine schools.  Added to the excitement was the Wine Knowledge Marathon where for a full day 30 wine experts enlightened wine lover about the special attributes of their vineyards and grape varieties.
