Active eco-oriented travelers know biking is the smart way to experience a foreign land. You see the terrain in slow motion with a reliable power source, your cycling legs.
You might not envision Athens as the optimum place to pedal, but you will learn otherwise. For one, the bike tour in central Athens’ old city is 90% car-free (yes!). For two, Athens’ reach extends to the entire Attika peninsula with an inviting network of bike-able routes. An Eco Experience on two wheels ranges from from flat terrain in the wine and coastal regions to climbing hills and mountain passes at your ability level.
All EcoAthens’ bike tours are led by a bike guide and have vehicle support for safety and convenience (except car-free central Athens). The vehicle enables you to hop in if you need a rest. It carries water, spare parts, your day pack and first aid kit. With its flashing lights and safety sign, it warns other vehicles that bikers are on the road. Your safety, fun and comfort are the concerns of our team. Your only duty is to have a memorable ride.
Our fleet of bicycles are hybrid bikes with flat handlebars and fat tires, or you can upgrade to a road bike or e-bike. Children 6-10 years old ride a tag-along — in lieu of a front wheel, an extension is attached to an adult’s bike seat post. Usage depends on child’s weight and height. Gear includes helmets, water bottles and handlebar pouch big enough to hold your cellphone, wallet and camera.
On this unique bike tour you experience the sea, museums, wetlands and legendary historic sites over 2500 years old memorializing Battle of Marathon.
